So many of you have shared how overwhelming it can be to keep up with healthy breakfasts and snacks during busy weeks, and I know a lot of us are working on getting more protein. While Make It Easy has helped simplify your dinners (yay), I know mornings and snack times often need just as much attention. That’s why I wanted to share these Gluten-Free Protein Energy Balls—they’re quick to make, easy to grab on your way out the door, and packed with the protein and nutrients you need to power through the day.
Made with simple, wholesome ingredients like almond butter, toasted coconut, and bone broth based protein powder, they’re naturally sweetened with dates and easy to customize. I love to grab a few after a workout with a couple of my new Breakfast Meatballs or Applegate sausages. Asher has been loving them after baseball practice as well, or on the way to those early 7am games.
I rounded up a few other protein based breakfasts for you below as well!
Have a very happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the states! Be sure to tag me @daniellewalker on Instagram or here in the chat if you post photos of your recipes from Celebrations. Each year, while the rest of the country dives into online sales, I start my morning with a cup of coffee and intentionally sit down to scroll through your photos. Since 2012, it’s been my favorite Thanksgiving tradition. This holiday is such a celebration of food and togetherness, and it’s never lost on me how much trust it takes to welcome my recipes into your kitchens to share with your family and friends. It’s an honor I hold close every single year.
xx

Collagen Powder vs Bone Broth Protein Powder
Collagen powder and bone broth protein powder are both great options, but they serve different purposes. Collagen is fantastic for skin, hair, nails, joints, and gut health because it’s packed with specific amino acids like glycine and proline, but it’s not a complete protein since it’s missing some essential amino acids. Bone broth protein powder, on the other hand, is more well-rounded. It has collagen but also includes a broader range of amino acids, making it better for muscle repair and overall protein needs. If you’re looking for a protein that works in recipes and provides more complete nutrition, bone broth protein is the better choice. I like this brand the most.
Collagen powder isn’t an ideal substitute for bone broth protein powder in recipes because their protein structures and purposes differ. Bone broth protein powder is formulated for baking and includes coconut milk powder and a sweetener, which add richness and balance to the flavor and texture of the energy balls. Collagen, while high in protein, lacks these additional ingredients and can lead to a mixture that won’t hold together and a blander taste.
