Let’s settle a nostalgic debate—did you grow up calling this treat Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddies? Either way, this crunchy, chocolatey, peanut buttery snack has earned its place in every lunchbox, bake sale, and movie night. The name Puppy Chow came first, thanks to its resemblance to—you guessed it—dog kibble. (Don’t worry, it tastes way better.) General Mills later gave it a rebrand as Muddy Buddies when they started selling it by the bag.
Today, I’m sharing my version of the beloved classic: grain-free, dairy-free, and free of refined sugar—but every bit as addictive as you remember. Whether you were team Puppy Chow or Muddy Buddies growing up, I think you’ll love this cleaned-up take on the nostalgic favorite.
