Happy Monday, Friends!
Welcome back to the Make It Good video series! Every so often, I’ll be sharing conversations with inspiring members of our community—people who have walked through hard things and are finding healing, purpose, and joy along the way. After we chat, I’ll head into my test kitchen to reimagine a recipe they personally requested—something nostalgic, comforting, or just plain missed.
Whether it’s Flan, Dulce de Leche Cake, Chick-fil-A nuggets, or Milano cookies, my mission is to take your favorite recipes and Make It Good again—with better-for-you ingredients that nourish your body and satisfy your cravings.
Together, we’ll explore how food can be part of the healing process, and how each guest is making good of their own journey—one plate, one story at a time.

Kae and Vicki
I met Vicki, Kae, and their incredible family in New Jersey during my Healthy in a Hurry book tour. Kae came up to my signing table with the brightest smile and told me she had been making my Girl Scout cookie remakes for her troop meetings—because like me, she had to avoid gluten and dairy. Then Vicki, her mom, shared a dream of one day opening a grain-free bakery. Their story, and Kaelynn’s joy, stuck with me.
We stayed in touch, and when it came time for my Make It Easy book tour, their whole family generously offered to help—stuffing over a hundred swag bags with such joy and care. I’ll never forget that act of kindness.
Today, I’m overjoyed to share that Kae is in remission and thriving. It was such a gift to sit down and talk with her about her journey and how food became a part of her healing story. I know you’ll love hearing from her, too.
And there’s more to come—Vicki and I recorded a follow-up conversation about what this journey has looked like through a mother’s eyes. Plus, Kae’s Milano Cookie remake recipe drops this Thursday, so be sure to tune in!
I also wanted to reshare this really helpful and inspiring thread from our community chat about kids with IBD. We have a lot of mothers here who are walking a similar path and there’s so much support in their comments.
Kae’s Grain-Free Remake Request
Milano Cookies!
It took 11 test batches it took to MAKE IT GOOD, but we did it! Kae and Vicki have already made them, and I’m so thankful they loved them (even if they are a bit of a labor of love!).
The recipe will email out on Thursday!

Don’t miss Kae’s recipe recreation!
