Sprouts was a highlight of my recent holiday to the US! We absolutely loved walking round and seeing what clean DF and GF options we could find! How lucky you guys are to have them over there!
It’s Icelandic, high protein. I haven’t been able to eat yogurt in years, slightly pricey but worth it! SR and Dublin Sprouts carry it, so I’m sure they have it in SoCal:))
This is so fun! I appreciate that you are allowing yourself to get grocery pickup, a few cookie mixes here and there, and still maintain the health of your family and friends. Very inspiring for me! My daughter just loves the "goodies" from Sprouts - especially the Jolly Llama ice cream ( replacement for Drumsticks ).
Love Sprouts! I also use instacart alot for sprouts, but I do miss the cool new things you'll see in the store when you go in person. They have the best produce!
Your “Monster Cookies” are my favorite cookies of all time. I’ve seen the ones you got at Whole Foods before, but I’ve never gotten them because I can’t bring myself to have another kind. I probably make yours at least once per month. 😂 We get Sweet Loren’s on occasion; the Oatmeal Cranberry flavor is our favorite!
Ok so we tried them, and while I did pop a frozen cube of dough into my mouth too many times, I still really love mine more plus I like the sweeteners I use more. LOL. Mine are already too dangerous to have around, but you have to actually take the time to make them. The danger of having a GF storebought version is no good. I won’t be buying again. 🤣
Fun to see! Curious how you handle kids food when they go other places. Do they take their own snacks? Do you let others know no to feed them all the junk?
Have you ever talked about personal care products - hair/body, specifically - in relation to being grain-free? I've got some specific intolerances (gluten/wheat, corn, soy, dairy) and am finding my scalp and body reacting with psoriasis to products which use ingredients derived from those things. Corn is in SO MUCH. It's such a struggle...and it occurred to me that this community might have some resources.
I've found a brand that is truly allergen-free - Savonnerie - but am struggling to find styling products, especially for wavy/curly hair. So many say they're for sensitive scalps, but when I run the ingredients through AI to ask, many ingredients are sourced from corn. It's so discouraging...
I haven’t much. I use Native for a lot. I love the filters on Thrive Markets website and they have a ton of personal care. You can filter out ingredients you can’t tolerate.
I honestly would add some beef bones if you can and fish them out! The pork really in there for texture (the bones thicken it with their gelatin) and flavor (just richness from the pork).
Ohhh ok I can totally do that!! Thank you!! I’ve actually been wanting to make this for some time now but wasn’t sure how to replicate it without the pork!

It’s such a great store and more and more are opening in CA!
Love Sprouts!! They’re one of the few grocery stores that carries the BEST lactose free yogurt Painterland Sisters and healthier snacks.
I haven’t heard of that brand! I’ll look for it next time.

I’ve reached a point with yours where I don’t even need to look at the recipe anymore. Not sure if I should be proud or slightly embarrassed 😆
Proud! HA

I'll check the ingredients on stuff that looks promising. Thanks for the tip! Thrive has been a terrific resource for snacks, etc.
Tell me more about the ground pork in the sauce… brown first or?
Yes! I brown it then remove about ¾ of it and leave the drippings in the pan. I eat the ground pork with my adobo seasoning as breakfast!
I love that ground pork tip for the sauce. We don’t do any pork at all but this gives me a tip to try utilizing ground beef instead!
