One of my favorite things to do is to watch cooking shows but I can never eat or make anything they are making. I cannot tell you how excited I am to be able to sit down and watch you cook things I can actually eat. It makes my heart so happy. Thank you, thank you for doing this💛.
I had the worst morning sickness with my kids and for months just watched Food Network and all the food I couldn’t stomach to eat. I’m pulling a stool up next to you! And am excited to cook along this time!
The apple cake has a glaze made from buttermilk, butter, and sugar. The cake is baked in a bundt pan and when you take it out of the oven you pour the glaze all over it, then let it sit in the pan for several hours for the glaze to absorb into the cake.
Just wanted to echo what so many others have already said - love (and have missed) this casual and unscripted format. I chuckled when you threw the egg shells into the sink.
I absolutely love this video and haven’t been so excited to watch a recipe being made in so long!! I love that this is not scripted, we see you on your element and the thoughts behind your testing process. This is definitely something I am excited about. It is super helpful to see you making the recipe from start to finish and knowing exactly how something should look! I can’t wait for the Brookie recipe and to be able to share with my family! I second what another person said about a pound cake, I do miss eating that!
Danielle, these Brookies look incredible! I can’t wait to try them. I think the food I miss the most are pierogies and potickers/Asian dumplings. I feel like that dumpling texture is tricky, but a girl can dream. Also, I totally believe in you! <3
Danielle, I loved this! I don’t have a lot of time to watch long videos and never watch tv, but I found time to watch this while my toddler napped in the backseat of the car. 🤣 I used to love food network shows, but they’re not as interesting when you can’t eat any of the foods. This fills that gap. I also loved all the practical tips and brand suggestions. The brookies look divine and I can’t wait for the recipe. I am currently a meal plan subscriber, and have loved how it is getting my family to try different flavors. I have almost all of your books and just preordered the next one. One thing I miss from childhood is bagel with cream cheese and whitefish salad.
Oh my goodness I can’t believe you’ve never made them! That recipe is the recipe I credit for making my blog “take off” way back in 2011! :) SO happy loved them!
Your meal plan and this substack have inspired me to pull my cookbooks back out and find some different recipes to make! I was on AIP for a long time and now can eat paleo and even some dairy and legumes. Sometimes I forget about recipes that I originally couldn’t try. One of my favorites is the sunflower crunch bars!
Oh! I didn’t mean live, live with an audience. I like watching you do the unedited post like you did in this post. I also like the 30 second ones to but I do enjoy watching the whole process including the “mistakes” since that is what usually happens when I cook.
So excited for this new project! The Brookies have already caught my husband’s attention! I have always been known in my extended family for my cracker topped baked macaroni and cheese (sharp cheddar). We have all missed it at holiday meals. I think that’s something I dream of having again one day! LOL.
I have a Mac and cheese recipe in Healthy in a Hurry! It’s no sharp cheddar, but I’ve heard from tons of readers that it passes their kids’ test who can’t have dairy! Maybe some simple mills crackers on top?
I can’t wait to try both of these recipes! Yum! Love hearing the why behind the ingredients also, so helpful. And I would love to see a recipe for an orange or lemon olive oil cake. I’m in love with the orange olive oil cake from sideboards, but every time I try and duplicate it from whatever online recipe I’ve found, it flops. Would be very excited to try a version from you!
I have been a part of your communities since you started them. I’m very excited to see how this develops. I do love the live demonstrations. I’m looking forward to getting the Brooke recipe and am SO happy you figured out an easier Samoa recipe. Every year I look at your original and think it just looks too hard and I taught Culinary Arts for 25 years! Hurry with that one please.
It really is a labor of love haha! That’s why I made the bars. I was also set up to make the cookies and gave up 😂
When you say “live” demonstrations - do you mean actually live in real time with viewers, or something like this that is just unedited and the full process vs 30 second social media videos?
I completely agree! I adore cooking and baking and the Samoa recipe was just too laborious with a toddler underfoot. I am very excited for the bar version.
I was born and raised in south Texas, and when I first moved away from my home state to the Northeast almost twenty years ago, I missed all of my favorite Mexican dishes. I think everything you have created so far, from your enchiladas to your “tortilla” soup have really filled that craving/desire/need for authentic flavors! More, please! 😄
Oh yay I love to hear that! When I first started reading your comment I figured you’d request King Ranch Casserole or Texas Sheet Cake! 😂 Those are the two most requested recipes from my Texan fans! I am all about Mexican cuisine being from CA so I’m in! Also have you had my skillet queso? Much more Texan than Mexican but so good.
How about Tres Leches Cake! Is that even possible?!? And surprisingly, I was never a queso fan growing up (just hand me chips and salsa) but when we tried yours I was so hooked!
Also, I think my kids reactions are exactly the same when they try your desserts for the first time! Their favorite right now is 7 layer bars from AAG!
I would also love a Tres Leches cake recipe. My mom and I are both grain free due to autoimmune disease. I was able to make her happy with your pecan pie recipe. She still misses Tres Leches. 🙏🏻
Thank you so so much for those suggestions. Funny story - I got your Healthy in a Hurry when I started your $45/quarter meal program - the inaugural group. Then I moved **sigh**. In an effort to divide & conquer the boxes, I loaded every closet full. Recently I received a 30-day menu and had to check the book out of the library! Idk where it is😭😭 I’ll find it eventually!!!🤷🏼♀️
Oh no!! That is so sad. It goes on sale all the time on Amazon and is on sale right now on my website for autographed copies. But the library is amazing for now too until you find it!
That sounds great! Honestly, I don’t know the type, maybe Indian!! Sorry, very illiterate in the kitchen, It just has curry powder! t’s the milk & flour I can’t have! It’s just thick and creamy!
I think my favorite is a yellow curry - more Thai style - in my cookbook Meals Made Simple page 132! But if you want to try to modify your recipe - try using cashew milk or full fat coconut cream in place of your milk and cassava flour or arrowroot for your flour.

ONE DAY we will have a show on tv or streamers to watch all the time, but for now -I’m doing it myself!
Danielle, I truly believe you will. We desperately need a show in this special diet space - x
I had the worst morning sickness with my kids and for months just watched Food Network and all the food I couldn’t stomach to eat. I’m pulling a stool up next to you! And am excited to cook along this time!
THIS 💯 same, same
I loved watching this so much! I can’t wait to try the recipe! I would love to see recipes for an apple cake and a pumpkin pound cake. 😊
Does the apple cake have a glaze or frosting? You’re the second one to suggest a pound cake!
The apple cake has a glaze made from buttermilk, butter, and sugar. The cake is baked in a bundt pan and when you take it out of the oven you pour the glaze all over it, then let it sit in the pan for several hours for the glaze to absorb into the cake.
I think I’d use this one as a starting point Carol! https://againstallgrain.com/2011/12/10/gluten-free-grain-free-apple-spice-coffe-cake/
Thank you!!! This looks perfect! If I don’t have raw honey is regular honey okay? Or will it be too runny?
No it should be just fine!
Great! Thank you!!!
That apple cake sounds DIVINE!! 🤤
My mother in law always makes it at Christmas and everyone loves it. I really want to make a healthier version that is gluten free. 😊
And dairy free too
Just wanted to echo what so many others have already said - love (and have missed) this casual and unscripted format. I chuckled when you threw the egg shells into the sink.
HA I wish I was organized like Rachael Ray and had the “trash bin” or my compost bin near me. But they pretty much always get tossed into the sink 😅

Noted! Also I think Michelle from Nom Nom paleo has a dumpling recipe!
DUMPLINGS!!! I miss them so. 🥺🥺🥺
I'm very excited for this recipe! I love watching your videos and have missed them. Can't wait to see more.
Looks wonderful. Thanks for doing this

Oh yay Andrea! This one was particularly long but when I do dinner recipes I’m sure they’ll be close to 20 minutes in length! Perfect for car naps 😂
Have you tried the Everything Bagels from Eat What You Love yet? They’re so good with kitehill cream cheese!
This inspired me to make the real deal CCC from the cookbook. I had never made them. They are amazing!!

I have thought of working with that as a base! I will give it a try! Thanks for the suggestion!
Loved seeing this insight into your creativity.
I am team corner of the Brownie all the way - but still like it fudgy (not dry).
Absolutely loved your kids reactions. Looking forward to seeing munchkins reaction when we make them.
And loved that little tease for the caramel chocolate recipe. Looking forward to trying that.
