Very very cool. Thank you for the insight into making the book.

Question… do you personally do all of the tests in your test kitchen? It seems like a lot to go through for so many recipes … or do you have others test for you or with you?

I personally do it all. I have an assistant who helps me though with prep and clean up now. For my first 2 books, I did it all alone and it nearly did me in 😅

OMG I don’t know how there are hours in the day to do that many batches per recipe. You do it at home! Or do you have a kitchen with multiple ovens?

It’s varies over the years. First two books were in my townhouse with one oven and 4 burners. The next two I had an office space with two ovens and 6 burners. Healthy in a Hurry and Make It Easy was back in my own home kitchen! I do have 2 ovens 🥰

Such an awesome glimpse behind the scenes. I had no idea what it takes to write a cookbook! And you make it look easy! By the way, what is the recipe for the cover image?

Thank you! It’s the Salmon and potatoes with green goddess but we swapped in chicken thighs - want to know why? The publishing industry strongly advises against putting fish on a cover. Some won’t allow it, but since I pay for my own photography I get the final say. 😅

Oh my goodness! I have made this recipe 6-8 times already. I even took it to a friend who was recovering from surgery. The first time I made it, I swapped chicken breasts because I didn’t have salmon in the house! I am excited to hear you did the same thing. It’s delicious both ways! After watching your video here, I could hardly wait to try the green goddess dressing & Sesame Asian Ginger dressing. Both dressings are now always in my fridge. I love how encouraging you are to us with swaps & substitutions. ❤️

I’m so excited for Make It Easy! I keep searching recipes in the app from ingredients I have in the house and I keep choosing Make It Easy recipes without realizing it. I’m counting down the days with you! Thank you for all your hard work! (I loved seeing your adorable kids in the background of this video.)

Wow! I know I’ve heard/read you say how much work it is to create a cookbook. But I wouldn’t have thought it was THAT much work! 😅 Thank you for all you do, and all of the insights you shared!

I’m looking forward to it HIAH, and also your “baking bible”! 😋🤤I have a question, though. (Inquiring minds want to know, LOL!) - Why does a book have a planned release date, if it’s still in the quite early planning stages?

Great question! They set a date for lots of different reasons. Probably the biggest is to make sure that I have time to write it and that they have editors and designers whole time on their calendars within the publisher to be able to spend six months working on the book design and editing afterwards. Also, they like to make sure that they don’t release similar books around a similar times so that they don’t have competition within their own publishing house, and it’s good for me as a business owner, Mother And author to be able to look ahead and know that every two years in the fall, I will be releasing a book so I can plan everything else accordingly! Sometimes states move, depending on if the author needs more time has something come up in their life that puts them behind or we find out that Ina Garten is releasing a book at the same time. Ha ha.

Ooof the typos there! HAHA I was voice texting this morning while getting my kids ready for school and I can’t edit it. It’s killing this author 😅

LOL! I feel ya! I wish we could edit our comments, too (instead of just deleting them and starting over)! I just realized that I put that I’m looking forward to the release of HIAH, and meant to say Make It Easy! 😅

I wish you would’ve let us know about the Amazon “issue” before. I would’ve definitely ordered elsewhere if it would’ve made a difference. I am just used to ordering most things on Amazon because of my prime days and subscribe and save orders — so that everything ships together.

It’s just an insider tip but honestly I’m just thankful for any copy purchased from any store!! If Amazon’s pricing works best for someone, I would never want to deter them! :)

Danielle, I have preordered multiple copies of Make It Easy (1 Amazon and 4 B&N). I want to receive another one when I attend the Rake and Straw event in Dublin in 2 weeks!! (Excited here). Was I supposed to do anything special to get a copy there? I know that my ticket price is supposed to go toward the book, but I'm not sure if I need to do anything else. I tried to send a message in the event app, but don't think I heard back from anyone.

I loved your videos of testing. Your kids are adorable!! And you were so lovely with them - especially as someone who had been working a long and hard day, with an objective in mind, etc. What a blessing! It only makes me happier to support you and your amazing work!!! Blessings to you and can't wait to meet you on the 17th! ~ Kim

Oh thank you for ordering so many!!

Rakestraw will have all of the books available to purchase before and after the event! He’ll take your ticket as a coupon for the purchase and I believe will take cash or credit card.

They’ll all be signed and everyone will have a chance to jump into the line for a pic and a hug afterwards.
