Cultivating Authenticity, Community, and Inspiration
The longing for change has been growing within me for years, and with Make It Good, it's finally materializing. Back in 2008, I stumbled into blogging, sharing my journey of grappling with a new diagnosis and transforming my diet. Writing became my solace, and it allowed me to untangle my thoughts and connect with others facing similar struggles.
My blog became a sanctuary where I shared recipes and discussed living with health issues with my internet friends in the comments. I went on to write four New York Times bestselling cookbooks full of gluten-free and grain-free recipes, and a memoir about my health journey.
As social media evolved, genuine connections seemed to fade amidst algorithmic demands, leaving me drained and uncertain about fitting into the mold.
My readers expressed the same desire for a return to real stories, cooking demonstrations, and personal insights. Inspired by others moving their blogs and newsletters over to SubStack, I'm returning to my blogging roots with Make It Good, where connections matter more than metrics. It's about fostering positivity, love, and encouragement in a space where genuine interactions thrive. It’s about seeking to make all things in life good.
Good food. Good people. Good friendships. Good discussions. Good recipes.
Good health.

More About Me
Hi and thanks for landing here!!
I'm Danielle Walker. I’m a food blogger, recipe developer, and cookbook author. Mom to four. Three here on earth - Asher, Easton, Kezia; and our daughter Aila who is waiting for us in Heaven. I’ve written six cookbooks, with the newest - Make It Easy -releasing in September 2024, and a memoir called “Food Saved Me - my journey to finding health and happiness through the power of food.”
Beyond the books, I'm just a health and wellness enthusiast and self-taught chef who stumbled into this crazy journey after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease - Ulcerative Colitis - as a newlywed at the young age of twenty-two. It wasn't easy, but through some serious dietary tweaks and lifestyle changes, I found my path to wellness.
These days, you can catch me sharing my health tips, creating grain-free recipes, and continually learning from others around me. I'm all about sharing the love and the knowledge, whether it's through my books, social media, or in-person events.
Thank you for being here!
